Calendar of Events

For more than 70 years, the Southport Island Association has continually evolved, to become an invaluable community asset.
Through your generous donations, we are able to bring a robust, year-round calendar of community-based events to the Island, provide educational scholarships to learners of all ages, reach out to our most vulnerable community members and help foster an environment built on care and support.
Our dynamic Board of Directors, comprising both year-around and summer residents creates this varied, interesting annual calendar of events.
Additional events are added throughout the year. Please check here for the most up-to-date information concerning rain dates etc.

Island Clean up

Island Clean up

The SIA presents the Annual Island Clean Up on April 28, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will meet at the Southport Central School at 11:30 a.m. where you’ll catch up with friends and neighbors and receive clean up instructions. There will be free hot dogs and chips for lunch before you head out to help beautify our neighborhoods. The Southport Central sixth graders will be hosting a bake sale to help fund their class trip to Boston, so you might want to have some cash on hand for a sweet treat!

The island is split up into sections by roads. You and a team member or members will take one section. If you come alone don’t worry, we will connect you to a group! Trash bags are handed out and bringing your own gloves is encouraged. You will walk your route and pick up the trash along your area at your own pace. When you are done, you simply leave the full trash bag on the side of the road for one of our crew members to pick up at a later time!

What a great community turn out we have had in the past. Won’t you join in this effort to leave our island a bit cleaner and the earth a bit healthier? We look forward to seeing you there!

Santa's Helpers Needed

Join the community in helping to light up Southport town buildings! Each year, Southport gleams with holiday lights that make these dark days more jolly! The lights have been installed professionally in the past, however due to a change in circumstances and the loss of the wonderful and loved community member who did this work -This year, there is a small group of community members working together to make sure the festive spirit and flair return to Southport once again.

Please join the effort on November 26th as the day the decor goes up! We will need to affix bows to 35 wreaths, hang said wreaths in designated windows, string lights on the buildings in reasonable places and affix some garland here and there. With enough help - we'll have this place festive in no time!

We need some volunteers with ladders and wire cutters, and others just to show up with good spirit and helping hands! I'd love to help! sign me up!

*This effort is not an SIA event, however we do hope our SIA members are feeling in the community spirit to help out where they can! Call Eden Climo at 513-739-2422 with questions.

Annual Flu Shot Clinic

For more information about the 2023-2024 CDC Flu Vaccination Recommendations, click here: CDC Flu Vaccine Recommendations.
Almost all medical insurance plans (including Medicare) pay for influenza vaccination. Please bring your medical insurance information to the Clinic (e.g. Medicare card, Blue Cross / Blue Shield card). The cost for those without insurance is about $30 for age 7-64 vaccine and about $50 for the high-dose "senior" (age 65+) vaccine. Cash, credit cards, and checks are accepted.
In order to receive your flu shot, you must complete/sign two separate consent forms - both of which will be available at Town Hall on the day of the Flu Shot Clinic. If you prefer to print and sign the forms before arriving, you may do so - everyone who registers for the Clinic will receive a reminder email on October 17 with both consent forms attached.
Please consult with your primary care physician if you have any questions about the advisability of receiving a flu vaccination, given your personal medical history. No other vaccinations or boosters (COVID, RSV, etc.) beyond the current Flu vaccine are currently included for this Clinic. Nathan's Wellness does have COVID and RSV vaccines available at the Pharmacy. Call Nathan's at 207-315-2280 for more information.
